This week’s them is 10 new to me authors that I read in 2017.
1. Jamie Schlosser
I had a lot of friends who really enjoyed her book, Trucker. After reading the blurb, I decided I had to give it a try. It sounded great and I ended up loving it! I’m so glad I took a chance on her. She has since released a few other amazing books – they’ve all been great. Dancer, Dropout, and Untamable.
2. Laura Bradford
I found one of Laura’s books on Netgalley and it sounded really interesting so I decided to request it. Thankfully I was approved and started reading it right away. Death in Advertising is the book that introduced me to her work and I’m super glad that I found her! I’ve started reading books from her other series and have enjoyed those as well.
3. Rick Riordan
So last year I took part in a challenge called “Can You Read a Series in a Month?”. It sounded like a lot of fun and I wanted to participate, but I couldn’t think of a series that I was interested in. Both my husband and my son have read the Percy Jackson series so they suggested I do that one. I started the first book and was able to finish the series in a month. Now, I’m looking forward to reading the Heroes of Olympus books!
4. Susan Furlong
I reached out to Susan and asked if I could review her book, War and Peach. She was kind enough to provide me a copy to review and I devoured the book. The characters and setting were amazing and I really enjoyed the mystery.
5. Leigh Bardugo
I have seen Leigh Bardugo’s books all over Twitter and Instagram. I ended up participating in a buddy read of her book Wonder Woman: Warbringer. I freaking loved that book and can’t wait to read the rest of her work!
6. Sarah J Maas
Sarah is another author that I have seen all over Twitter and Instagram. Her books are really popular so I decided to try out her Throne of Glass series. I started with the novellas in The Assassin’s Blade and was immediately hooked. I’m looking forward to continuing on with this series and reading her other series as well.
7. Stacey Rourke
I was introduced to Stacey when I reviewed her book, Rise of the Sea Witch. This villain re-telling had me hooked from the blurb and I’m so glad I ended up loving the book. I’m looking forward to the sequel coming out soon!
8. Elly Blake
Elly is another author that I saw being shared on Twitter and Instagram a lot. I checked out her book Frostblood and really enjoyed it. I’ll be reading Fireblood soon!
9. Tillie Cole
I read her book, A Thousand Boy Kisses, after hearing amazing things about it. I knew from what people were saying that it was going to be a tearjerker, but I didn’t know it was going to absolutely destroy me. I sobbed and ugly cried so many times during this book. She’s an amazing writer and I’m glad I decided to give her a try.
10. James Morris
James reached out to me to review his book, Feel Me Fall. It sounded great so I agreed and oh.my.god! The ending of the book had my mouth dropped open and gave me chills. That one was heck of a ride! I’m really glad I decided to take a chance on his work.
I read one of Laura Bradford’s books and enjoyed it too.
